All,

It was challenging at OSHAA Regionals at Pickerington North. The girls’ team fought hard, but it was a tough day. Congratulations to all who raced on a cold, rainy, sleety day!

The boys’ team had (slightly) better weather and just barely missed making States as a team. Congratulations on an excellent, gritty effort by all!

Huge congratulations to Kellen, who finished 12th with a time of 16:12 and Elliott who finished 15th with a time of 16:17.  For the second year in a row, both are going to compete in the State Championship as individuals next Saturday at 3:00PM at National Trails Raceway. GOOD LUCK BOYS!

On Sunday afternoon, those runners who placed in the top 24 in our Division were honored at the All-District Cross Country Awards Banquet. This included Jessica Blake and pictured below with Coach Wadenstierna are Elliott Cook, Kellen Posacki and Arjun Dhankani. Well done!

Jerome Cross Country Parents/Athletes:

Thanks to all those who braved the rain and came out to our Parent meeting on August 2nd. It is a great way to disseminate the large amount of information at one time. Thanks also to the majority of you who have signed up to volunteer in various capacities throughout the season. We know that our kids work hard every day and without the committed group of parents that assist in making sure kids get to practice, have enough to drink, help make smoothies, organize Pasta dinners, etc., it would not be the successful team that we have at Dublin Jerome, so we thank you for sharing your time and your talent with our athletes.

Speaking of volunteers – thanks to those who stepped up to help at Irish Fest. ApparentlySaturday was the busiest day since it began 30 years ago. If you worked at our Jerome Cross Country station, I am sure you will agree! We will learn what this means to our bottom line in September when the money is disbursed, but by all accounts Scott Bowen thinks it was a great success and on behalf of our team, we will commit to volunteering at future Irish Fests. Thanks, Scott, for pulling this together in such short order!

Upcoming Events:

August 10th – LAST DAY TO ORDER SPIRIT WEAR AND THE UNIFORM JACKET. Order yours today at:

http://www.myfanstand.com/Showroom/DJHSCrossCountry/493608

August 18th – 2 mile Time Trial @ Thomas Worthington. BOYS ONLY!  The 2-mile time trial at Thomas Worthington (7:30pm on Friday 8/18) is no longer mandatory for all boys. It is only mandatory for any returning runners who have not yet hit their target times. Runners highlighted in yellow on this list have hit their target times and do not have to attend unless they want to race. Coach Wadenstierna will register the runners who must attend. Athletes who have already hit their target time but still would like to race should register for FREE using this link.

August 21st – Dublin Tri-Meet – “Friendly” 2 mile competition between the three Dublin Schools, hosted for the first time at our Home Course. Come out and cheer our runners and get a look our Celtic Clash course! We will also need a few volunteers to hand out water, bananas and medals.
